Records from the Military Assistance Command-Vietnam (MACV)reported in it's official record the following: Summary for July 1970: "17 July 1970 - An element of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), engaged an undetermined size enemy force 11 miles N-NW of Phuoc Binh. Enemy losses are unknown while U.S. casualties were four killed and seven wounded." The four men killed in the ambush were:
He was awared a Silver Star for his actions against the enemy. Below are the special orders for that award which describe his valiant efforts. ![]() SGT Crichton was survived by his wife, Norma J Crichton, Greybull, Wyoming, son Robert, parents Ellen L. (1917 - 1993) and Archie J. Crichton (1910 - 1990), brother Archie J Jr, (1936-2006) and sister Peggy V Trenkle (1941-2012).
