     I have been collecting some of your letters, and what a unique person you are - funny, witty, unique, talented. Caring so much for your family and the same time going back. I think I once heard you wanted to go for your guys out there. Always a hero, even as a kid. I miss you so much. Time doesn't always take care of that wound. Love you, Eachie I would very much like to hear from anyone who knew James before or during his service.

A Note from The Virtual WallAlthough the fighting around Danang during the 1968 Tet Offensive was over-shadowed by the battle for Hue it was no less vicious. On 06 Feb 1968 the 1st Tank Battalion was called upon to provide tank support to a number of US and ARVN units in the Danang area and lost eight men while doing so. Five tankers were killed in a single engagement when a tank section sent to support an ARVN detachment guarding the Tuy Loan bridge was greeted with a hail of anti-tank rockets:
