30 Oct 2003 Bill Sandefur was my father. He was killed in Quang Tin exactly one week before I was born. I was adopted shortly after my birth and I don't think he knew that I was coming. I know that my father was a First Lieutenant and an Infantry Unit Commander. The local paper said the he died a hero, trying to rescue another surrounded unit without endangering his own unit. But no one really knows what happened that day except for the men he was with. Someday I would love to hear from those men. I would love to honor my father's memory with more than a sketchy tribute. I want my father to know that even though he didn't know about me, he has always been a presence in my life and that someday I will get to know him better. Furch, Phoenix, AZ SP4 Jose Ramos, Corpus Christi, TX PFC Greig R. Parkhurst, Bremerton, WA Lieutenant Sandefur is buried next to his father Duane in West Lawn Memorial Park at 225 South Danebo Avenue, Eugene, Oregon. He is remembered by his brothers on the 35th Infantry site
