Gary was in A Company, 1st Bn, 501st Inf Rgt, 101 Abn. He was killed in action on 3-16-1968 in Thua Thien, South Vietnam, during the Carentan 1 offensive. I was notified by my Mother and Grand-mother on 3-18-1968, and went into labor and delivered a son on 3-20-1968. Not only did I lose a beloved brother, I lost my very best friend. He was very special and very loved.

A Note from The Virtual WallA Company, 1st of the 501st, lost two men on 16 March 1968, both from Missouri: SSG Bogard L. Floyd of Kennett and SGT Gary P. Hadley of Arnold.The DoD Casualty database incorrectly gives Sergeant Hadley's date of bith as 17 August 1946; it actually is 17 August 1948. That error has been corrected here, but other sources which use the DoD CACCF will continue to show the incorrect date. Sergeant Hadley is buried in Site 304, Section "H", Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Saint Louis, Missouri. The Virtual Wall was not able to locate Staff Sergeant Floyd's place of burial. |
